Why categories matter

Categories do not determine a book's value. They clarify its main question and the tools needed to read it.

Quran and Quranic studies

Works may focus on text, reading, vocabulary, explanation, or transmission disciplines. Identify the exact function.

Hadith and hadith studies

Distinguish collections, selections, commentaries, terminology, and narrator studies. Each serves a different level and use.

Fiqh and foundations

Manuals organize practical questions; foundations examine methods of reasoning. Independent reading does not replace qualified consultation.

Seerah, character, and history

Prophetic biography, character description, and history use different angles. Check period, method, and stated sources.

Spirituality and education

These books address heart, conduct, and habit. Read contextually and do not turn general exhortation into personal diagnosis.

Arabic language and literature

Reading, grammar, morphology, rhetoric, and prosody develop different skills. Choose the exact ability you need.

Build a path

Combine an introduction, a guided text, and later a reference when need appears. Categories orient a reader; they are not shopping quotas.
